This 1940s three-bedroom semi-detached house on a residential street in Prestwich recently had its side garage demolished due to its poor condition. The aim of the project was to design a replacement garage that was simple in form yet offered architectural interest. With the layout largely predetermined, the design process focused on the main elevation, exploring the use of timber and a palette of colours to create both contrast and harmony with the existing house.

Once the design was finalised, we produced drawings to support a lawful development certificate, as planning permission was not required, followed by a full set of technical drawings and specifications for a successful full plans building regulations application. Construction of the new garage is now underway.
